Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts

The third book in the Bride quartet is out today. I'm so excited to get started on the book. The first two have been pretty good so I'm expecting this won't disappoint either.

Here is a little something about the book.

Synopsis

New Love takes the cake in the third novel in Nora Roberts's new Bride Quartet-in a stunning French flap edition Wedding baker Laurel McBane is surrounded by romance working at Vows wedding planning company with her best friends Parker, Emma, and Mac. But she's too low-key to appreciate all the luxuries that their clients seem to long for. What she does appreciate is a strong, intelligent man, a man just like Parker's older brother Delaney, on whom she's had a mega-crush since childhood. But some infatuations last longer than others, and Laurel is convinced that the Ivy League lawyer is still out of her reach. Plus, Del is too protective of Laurel to ever cross the line with her-or so she thinks. When Laurel's quicksilver moods get the better of her-leading to an angry, hot, all-together mind-blowing kiss with Del-she'll have to quiet the doubts in her mind to turn a moment of passion into forever...

Publishers Weekly

Happily-ever-afters continue to bloom in book three of Roberts's sugary Bride Quartet (after Bed of Roses) as the spotlight shines on pastry chef extraordinaire Laurel McBane. Vows, the Greenwich, Conn., wedding business run by the four BFFs, is also a hotbed for romance, as two of the friends have already found true love and dream of their upcoming nuptials. Laurel, meanwhile, sets her sights on Del, the older brother of Vows partner Parker, a handsome lawyer she's secretly loved since they were teens. Passion erupts, but will they be able to make it last? Laurel's tart fairy tale romance offers few surprises, but it's impossible to deny Roberts's flair for sketching likable couples. (May)

Once I've finished the book I'll let you know how it was.

Happy Reading.

My next book.. by Jackie Collins

Here's a little excerpt from the book:

Denver Jones is a hotshot twenty-something attorney working in L.A. Carolyn Henderson is personal assistant to a powerful and very married Senator in Washington with whom she is having an affair. And Annabelle Maestro—daughter of two movie stars—has carved out a career for herself in New York as the madame of choice for discerning famous men. The three of them went to high school together in Beverly Hills—and although Denver and Carolyn have kept in touch, Annabelle is out on her own with her cocaine addicted boyfriend, Frankie.

Then there is Bobby Santangelo Stanislopolous, the Kennedyesque son of Lucky Santangelo and deceased Greek shipping billionaire, Dimitri Stanislopolous. Bobby owns Mood, the hottest club in New York. Back in the day he went to high school with Denver, Carolyn and Annabelle. And he connected with all three of them. Frankie is his best friend.

When Annabelle’s beautiful movie star mother is found shot to death in the bedroom of her Beverly Hills mansion, the five of them find themselves thrown together . . . and secrets from the past have a way of coming back to haunt everyone. . . .

A new, sexy, and explosive novel from perennial bestseller Jackie Collins.

Biography

In the world of sensational fiction, Jackie Collins is considered the Queen of Trash, the Duchess of Dirty Books. It might be easier to dog-ear the pages in her novel that don't have a steamy bedroom interlude. But even more than sex, the characters in her show-biz soap operas lust after something else: power.

I've been a fan of Jackie Collins for a very long time.

I've always said when Spring/Summer rolls along that it's time to read a Jackie Collins book! Why? Many reasons. They are easy to read books that are fast page turners.

The characters are easy to attach to and makes you connected right away.

Her stories tend to be a bit on the racy side, but not raunchy either. So for those that don't care to read on the heavy romantic, in detail side, then set this one aside.

However, if you're a huge fan, then you won't be disappointed with her latest book.

This book, like her other books have a few main characters in the book. Each chapter will be specifically set aside for their story with the other characters fit into each together.

I sort of attached myself more to "Denver" in this book. Not that we share anything similar by any means, but she was possibly the most down to earth character. She fit into the worlds of all the other main characters and it made her likable.

This was an easy read as I've said. One of my favorite parts of the book was that she brought Lucky Santangelo and her son Bobby into this book (from the Lucky series - also a must read. It was good to connect to them again in another story line. Good book; good reading. Won't disappoint.

Happy Reading!

Fantasy In Death by JD Robb

Who doesn't love JD Robb's "In Death" series books? I know I've blogged about a couple of the books in this series and I never have anything bad to say. They are truly one of my favorites to snuggle up to.

Here's a short bit on Fantasy In Death:
From Publishers Weekly
Lt. Eve Dallas, a top homicide cop for the New York Police and Security Department (the law enforcement agency for a mid 21st-century New York City), faces one of the more challenging cases of her career in bestseller Robb's exciting 31st in death novel (after Kindred in Death). When someone cuts off the head of Bart Minnock, the genius founder of the computer gaming company U-Play, apparently while he was role-playing against an imaginary opponent in a prototype of a fantasy adventure that could rock the industry, Eve investigates. Security logs show no one entered Minnock's building around the time of his murder, presenting a futuristic variation on the classic locked-room mystery. Aided by her husband, Roarke, who was a potential business rival of the victim, Dallas focuses on who would benefit from Minnock's death. Robb is the pseudonym of romantic suspense author Nora Roberts. (Feb.)

From Booklist

Even though Fantastical was still in the testing phase, Bart Minnock was certain the virtual-reality game would murder the competition. Instead, Bart is the one found dead. Now Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to come up with a plausible theory as to how someone could bypass the foolproof security in the millionaire’s holo-room and decapitate him. The fact that the popular gaming guru doesn’t seem to have any enemies isn’t making Eve’s job any easier, but the more time Eve spends investigating the case, the more evidence she finds that several people may have had a reason for wanting Bart out of the way. Now, with a little hands-on training from her husband, Roarke, a computer-gaming expert, Eve sets out to write a program for catching a clever killer. In the thirtieth addition to her best-selling Eve Dallas series, Robb successfully mixes a classic locked-room murder with plenty of cutting-edge twenty-first-century technology, and the end result is an ingenious tale of crime that delivers plenty of Robb’s patented dangerous chills and passionate thrills --John Charles

Now for those of you that are like me and HAVE TO HAVE the next book in her series the day it comes out, hard cover and all, then you'll sit down to enjoy this one as well with no complaints.
This is a book where you know before opening it how the story flows. You've become so connected to the characters in the stories, there is no worry on whether or not the story will pull you in. It just does.
I've said this many times about reading these books. Before starting I was unsure of wanting to read them. I'm not huge on murder mystery plots. However, after the first book, I was hooked. I can't wait for the next one to come out.
Connecting with all of the characters in these books are so easy to do. I find myself laughing at certain situations between Lt. Eve Dallas and Detective Peabody. Or the passion between the married couple Roarke and Eve. All over just a great read.
Pick it up, you won't be disappointed, I promise.
Happy reading!

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

I finally finished Dear John by Nicholas Sparks today.
I had started and stopped to read another book because I couldn't get involved with the story.

I know there is a movie that's out in the theaters right now about this book. That's one of the reasons that I wanted to read it. So that if I saw the movie I could compare from the book. (I always like the book better than the movie)!

When I first started reading the book it felt like I had read it before. It felt like I knew what was going to happen next while I was reading it. But I couldn't place what happened at the end of the book. I think the book came out a couple of years ago and I read it and just don't recall (and maybe that's why I had a hard time getting involved with the story - it was hard the first time???). Either way, I finished the book and only caught myself slightly remembering things near the end of the book. I wanted to see if I was right in my memory so that's what kept me pushing forward to end the book.

And I can say that is the only time that I really pushed myself to keep reading through to the end. I just felt that the book was a little slow. I know there was a message behind it all and that I had to read all of it to get to that message, but I just felt like it was very slow.

I love to read books. I love the way a book can form your imagination into the story line. That you picture these people and their lives in what they go through, no matter what book you are reading (at least I do those things!!!).

Maybe a part of me wanted Tim and Savannah to be together. Maybe I was just waiting for that happy ending to take place. And I sure don't want to ruin it for those that haven't finished the book, planning on reading it or seeing the movie.
I think the book ends the way it needed to (outside of my selfish wants for the ending!!). I think if it ended any other way it would have been predictable.

All in all, for me, the story was a bit on the slow side. As I said, I get it had a point to make, I just think it took a long time to get to that point. I had a hard time picking up the book and getting it done because of that.
Would I recommend the book? Sure. Not everyone has the same style in likes or dislikes in books.
If you're looking for a good love story..then this book is for you. For me? It was just a little slow.

Happy Reading!

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice continues

Lori Hitz has gotten me her second review for Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
I'm so excited for her. These books sound great and I'm so happy that she's been sharing her fun with us.

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice continues…
A Personal Review of the Second Fan-Fiction Sequel to the Pride and Prejudice 2005 theatrical movie
From Sharon Lathan By Lori Hitz

Loving Mr. Darcy: Journeys beyond Pemberley
Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice continues…
By Sharon Lathan

In the last installment of the Darcy Saga, Mr. & Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two shall become one, we left the Darcy’s battered, bruised and blissfully in love. Finally figuring that Lizzy is with child, William lavishes her with all the extra attention a mother to be deserves.

This is where Loving Mr. Darcy begins…
William and Lizzy decide they need to venture away from the confines of Pemberley and take a trip that includes returning to Hertfordshire and eventually to London to be introduced to the “London Ton”, the high society in England at the time.
In the beginning of their journey Lizzy finds that she is having side effects, not only from the baby but from her trauma that was caused by Orman. So William helps and makes Lizzy as comfortable as she can be at all times. He dotes on her and makes sure no further harm comes to her, due to the guilt that consumes him when he thinks about her traumas caused by Orman when he could not protect her.

While being at Netherfield in Herefordshire closeness came to Jane and Lizzy, as they become each others confidences more than they ever were before, which in turn brings Charles and William the same result. All together the four of them become as close as they can be except by geography.

After Leaving Hertfordshire and moving on to the next leg of their trip, small events started boiling up, their arrival at Darcy house in London and the Head of the staff took it upon herself to belittle Lizzy. Not knowing what full fury would come as she did. Lizzy was the Mistress of the house and this was not going to falter. Along with that some of Williams fears are realized when the reception for the Darcy’s are less than lukewarm as presented in full face value by his Aunt Catherine. You will have to read the book to find out how she was received by the “London Ton”.

One of my favorite parts in the book is Catherine De Burgh getting hers and having to eat crow. I love when mean people get their just desserts. It makes it all the better when a family steps in to make it happen. You really get to see the family dynamic grow in this book.

Throughout this book you get a little more intimate with some of the other characters, Col. Fitzwilliam, Dr George Darcy, Mary Bennet, Kitty Bennet and Georgiana Darcy. You start to have a love for each of the characters and wonder what will go on with them next. One of my personal favorites is Dr George Darcy; he is endearing and his traveling companion “Raja” are well educated Dr’s. Together they give you the sense that “Raja” is more than he appears, and with his confidence you see why he is willing to let George stand out in the crowd. George has his own secrets and eventually they will be known, but you will have to hang until the next book as he becomes one of the main characters. (Looking forward to see where Sharon takes him.)

William and Lizzy have a short separation, as she stays in London and realizes they both hate it, but it is a necessary evil to live the life they are now accustomed. His absence is elongated due to an accident, and as we all know absence makes the heart grow fonder. I also believe that Lizzy finally finds out what it is like for William to worry about her because it is now her turn.

After leaving London and all that goes with it behind, they decide to have a private vacation. Of course the action of traveling we all know can have its ups and downs and drama shortly ensues when William and Lizzy leave London and are warned there is danger on the road. So you know that Darcy will get to show his manly prowess and bang his proverbial chest, and what a sexy chest it is. (Well at least that’s the way I envision the description. Thanks to Matthew MacFadyen!)

I have finally finished the third in a series of hopefully many more to come. I just wish I had more to read now. I will just have to re-read them all until the next one comes. I truly just can’t get enough of Sharon Lathan’s books. I can’t thank her enough and I am sure my husband James would like to thank her as well for my romantic side in me is flourishing, which our marriage of ten wonderful years is reaping the benefits, thanks Sharon and keep them coming!

Thanks again Lori! Looking forward the next book review you send our way.

Until then, happy reading!!
