I'm so excited to get started on the book. The first two have been pretty good so I'm expecting this won't disappoint either.

Here is a little something about the book.

Synopsis

New Love takes the cake in the third novel in Nora Roberts's new Bride Quartet-in a stunning French flap edition Wedding baker Laurel McBane is surrounded by romance working at Vows wedding planning company with her best friends Parker, Emma, and Mac. But she's too low-key to appreciate all the luxuries that their clients seem to long for. What she does appreciate is a strong, intelligent man, a man just like Parker's older brother Delaney, on whom she's had a mega-crush since childhood. But some infatuations last longer than others, and Laurel is convinced that the Ivy League lawyer is still out of her reach. Plus, Del is too protective of Laurel to ever cross the line with her-or so she thinks. When Laurel's quicksilver moods get the better of her-leading to an angry, hot, all-together mind-blowing kiss with Del-she'll have to quiet the doubts in her mind to turn a moment of passion into forever...

Publishers Weekly

Happily-ever-afters continue to bloom in book three of Roberts's sugary Bride Quartet (after Bed of Roses) as the spotlight shines on pastry chef extraordinaire Laurel McBane. Vows, the Greenwich, Conn., wedding business run by the four BFFs, is also a hotbed for romance, as two of the friends have already found true love and dream of their upcoming nuptials. Laurel, meanwhile, sets her sights on Del, the older brother of Vows partner Parker, a handsome lawyer she's secretly loved since they were teens. Passion erupts, but will they be able to make it last? Laurel's tart fairy tale romance offers few surprises, but it's impossible to deny Roberts's flair for sketching likable couples. Why? Many reasons. They are easy to read books that are fast page turners.

The characters are easy to attach to and makes you connected right away.

Her stories tend to be a bit on the racy side, but not raunchy either. So for those that don't care to read on the heavy romantic, in detail side, then set this one aside.

However, if you're a huge fan, then you won't be disappointed with her latest book.

This book, like her other books have a few main characters in the book. Each chapter will be specifically set aside for their story with the other characters fit into each together.

I sort of attached myself more to "Denver" in this book. Not that we share anything similar by any means, but she was possibly the most down to earth character. She fit into the worlds of all the other main characters and it made her likable.

This was an easy read as I've said. One of my favorite parts of the book was that she brought Lucky Santangelo and her son Bobby into this book (from the Lucky series - also a must read. It was good to connect to them again in another story line. Good book; good reading. Won't disappoint.

Happy Reading!

Patricia

Fantasy In Death by JD Robb

Who doesn't love JD Robb's "In Death" series books? Eve Dallas, a top homicide cop for the New York Police and Security Department (the law enforcement agency for a mid 21st-century New York City), faces one of the more challenging cases of her career in bestseller Robb's exciting 31st in death novel (after Kindred in Death). When someone cuts off the head of Bart Minnock, the genius founder of the computer gaming company U-Play, apparently while he was role-playing against an imaginary opponent in a prototype of a fantasy adventure that could rock the industry, Eve investigates. Security logs show no one entered Minnock's building around the time of his murder, presenting a futuristic variation on the classic locked-room mystery. Aided by her husband, Roarke, who was a potential business rival of the victim, Dallas focuses on who would benefit from Minnock's death. Instead, Bart is the one found dead. Now Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to come up with a plausible theory as to how someone could bypass the foolproof security in the millionaire’s holo-room and decapitate him. The fact that the popular gaming guru doesn’t seem to have any enemies isn’t making Eve’s job any easier, but the more time Eve spends investigating the case, the more evidence she finds that several people may have had a reason for wanting Bart out of the way. Now, with a little hands-on training from her husband, Roarke, a computer-gaming expert, Eve sets out to write a program for catching a clever killer. In the thirtieth addition to her best-selling Eve Dallas series, Robb successfully mixes a classic locked-room murder with plenty of cutting-edge twenty-first-century technology, and the end result is an ingenious tale of crime that delivers plenty of Robb’s patented dangerous chills and passionate thrills --John Charles

Now for those of you that are like me and HAVE TO HAVE the next book in her series the day it comes out, hard cover and all, then you'll sit down to enjoy this one as well with no complaints.

This is a book where you know before opening it how the story flows. You've become so connected to the characters in the stories, there is no worry on whether or not the story will pull you in. It just does.

I've said this many times about reading these books. Before starting I was unsure of wanting to read them. I'm not huge on murder mystery plots. However, after the first book, I was hooked. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Connecting with all of the characters in these books are so easy to do. I find myself laughing at certain situations between Lt. Eve Dallas and Detective Peabody. Or the passion between the married couple Roarke and Eve. All over just a great read.

Pick it up, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

Happy reading!

Patricia

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

I finally finished Dear John by Nicholas Sparks today.
I had started and stopped to read another book because I couldn't get involved with the story.

I know there is a movie that's out in the theaters right now about this book. That's one of the reasons that I wanted to read it. So that if I saw the movie I could compare from the book. (I always like the book better than the movie)!

When I first started reading the book it felt like I had read it before. It felt like I knew what was going to happen next while I was reading it. But I couldn't place what happened at the end of the book. I think the book came out a couple of years ago and I read it and just don't recall (and maybe that's why I had a hard time getting involved with the story - it was hard the first time???). Either way, I finished the book and only caught myself slightly remembering things near the end of the book. I wanted to see if I was right in my memory so that's what kept me pushing forward to end the book.

And I can say that is the only time that I really pushed myself to keep reading through to the end. I just felt that the book was a little slow. I know there was a message behind it all and that I had to read all of it to get to that message, but I just felt like it was very slow.

I love to read books. I love the way a book can form your imagination into the story line. That you picture these people and their lives in what they go through, no matter what book you are reading (at least I do those things!!!).

Maybe a part of me wanted Tim and Savannah to be together. Maybe I was just waiting for that happy ending to take place. And I sure don't want to ruin it for those that haven't finished the book, planning on reading it or seeing the movie.

I think the book ends the way it needed to (outside of my selfish wants for the ending!!). I think if it ended any other way it would have been predictable.

All in all, for me, the story was a bit on the slow side. As I said, I get it had a point to make, I just think it took a long time to get to that point. I had a hard time picking up the book and getting it done because of that.

Would I recommend the book? Sure. Not everyone has the same style in likes or dislikes in books.

If you're looking for a good love story..then this book is for you. For me? It was just a little slow.

Happy Reading!

Patricia

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice continues

Lori Hitz has gotten me her second review for Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
I'm so excited for her. These books sound great and I'm so happy that she's been sharing her fun with us.

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice continues…
A Personal Review of the Second Fan-Fiction Sequel to the Pride and Prejudice 2005 theatrical movie
From Sharon Lathan By Lori Hitz

Loving Mr. Darcy: Journeys beyond Pemberley
Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice continues…
By Sharon Lathan

In the last installment of the Darcy Saga, Mr. & Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two shall become one, we left the Darcy’s battered, bruised and blissfully in love. Finally figuring that Lizzy is with child, William lavishes her with all the extra attention a mother to be deserves.

This is where Loving Mr. Darcy begins…
William and Lizzy decide they need to venture away from the confines of Pemberley and take a trip that includes returning to Hertfordshire and eventually to London to be introduced to the “London Ton”, the high society in England at the time.
In the beginning of their journey Lizzy finds that she is having side effects, not only from the baby but from her trauma that was caused by Orman. So William helps and makes Lizzy as comfortable as she can be at all times. He dotes on her and makes sure no further harm comes to her, due to the guilt that consumes him when he thinks about her traumas caused by Orman when he could not protect her.

While being at Netherfield in Herefordshire closeness came to Jane and Lizzy, as they become each others confidences more than they ever were before, which in turn brings Charles and William the same result. All together the four of them become as close as they can be except by geography.

After Leaving Hertfordshire and moving on to the next leg of their trip, small events started boiling up, their arrival at Darcy house in London and the Head of the staff took it upon herself to belittle Lizzy. Not knowing what full fury would come as she did. Lizzy was the Mistress of the house and this was not going to falter. Along with that some of Williams fears are realized when the reception for the Darcy’s are less than lukewarm as presented in full face value by his Aunt Catherine. You will have to read the book to find out how she was received by the “London Ton”.

One of my favorite parts in the book is Catherine De Burgh getting hers and having to eat crow. I love when mean people get their just desserts. It makes it all the better when a family steps in to make it happen. You really get to see the family dynamic grow in this book.

Throughout this book you get a little more intimate with some of the other characters, Col. Fitzwilliam, Dr George Darcy, Mary Bennet, Kitty Bennet and Georgiana Darcy. You start to have a love for each of the characters and wonder what will go on with them next. One of my personal favorites is Dr George Darcy; he is endearing and his traveling companion “Raja” are well educated Dr’s. Together they give you the sense that “Raja” is more than he appears, and with his confidence you see why he is willing to let George stand out in the crowd. George has his own secrets and eventually they will be known, but you will have to hang until the next book as he becomes one of the main characters. (Looking forward to see where Sharon takes him.)

William and Lizzy have a short separation, as she stays in London and realizes they both hate it, but it is a necessary evil to live the life they are now accustomed. His absence is elongated due to an accident, and as we all know absence makes the heart grow fonder. I also believe that Lizzy finally finds out what it is like for William to worry about her because it is now her turn.

After leaving London and all that goes with it behind, they decide to have a private vacation. Of course the action of traveling we all know can have its ups and downs and drama shortly ensues when William and Lizzy leave London and are warned there is danger on the road. So you know that Darcy will get to show his manly prowess and bang his proverbial chest, and what a sexy chest it is. (Well at least that’s the way I envision the description. Thanks to Matthew MacFadyen!)

I have finally finished the third in a series of hopefully many more to come. I just wish I had more to read now. I will just have to re-read them all until the next one comes. I truly just can’t get enough of Sharon Lathan’s books. I can’t thank her enough and I am sure my husband James would like to thank her as well for my romantic side in me is flourishing, which our marriage of ten wonderful years is reaping the benefits, thanks Sharon and keep them coming!

Thanks again Lori! Looking forward the next book review you send our way.

Until then, happy reading!!
Patricia

Mr. and Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy

I was talking to my friend/neighbor Lori Hitz about books that we were reading. starring Kiera Knightly and Matthew MacFadyen the author Sharon Lathan wrote this book to illustrate where in her thoughts of the characters went after the movie ended. You always yearn to know what happens to characters and Jane Austen left it open to interpretation. The author took her creative license and worked through the months that led up to the wedding, after the proposal, and throughout the first few months of marriage in this first book of her Darcy Saga Series she made the characters as I would have dreamt them to be.

The author not always sticking to convention of the times, yet not straying to far from them, she makes sure to show in the words she writes the passion the two of them felt for one another.

So, when we last left our leading characters in the movie they were sitting out on the terrace of Pemberley professing their love for one another and aching to be in each others arms; presumably after the wedding. The author takes you through the wedding night and experiencing their first joining as man and wife. Through their passions and subtle communications they have with one another, they learn to communicate not only through their words, but with their looks and glances. Their gentle touches and the inevitable passion for one another is what fills their days and their nights. The author brings out the loving side of William and the tenderness that Lizzy had yearned for in all their misguided courtship.

Yet you get to experience the Darcy’s in a joyful state at home and not withholding the trials and tribulations of the two families joining and the compromises they each have to make. They throw convention out the window and make things the way they want them at Pemberley. Georgiana Darcy shows Lizzy how she can be a devoted sister and the staff at Pemberley embrace Lizzy as the new Mistress of Pemberley. Lizzy takes this duty far from lightly and goes headstrong into making sure things return to the convention they once had while William’s parents were alive. Morrison - Unconditionally Single.

For those of you that shy away from the "adult" books, then this will not be for you. It does have very explicit content, but along with that is a very good story line.

These books are a fast page turner. I want to know from the moment I open the book what's going to happen. So, smut or not, this is a good read.

Here is a blurb:

New York Times bestselling author Mary B. Morrison thrills readers with another riveting tale featuring beloved heroine Honey Thomas. This time, Honey goes into hiding to save her life—and fights to keep past enemies from destroying the future she so desperately wants...

Honey Thomas once made her living as a tough-talking prostitute and madam, but those days are long gone. Now, Honey runs a counseling center she founded in Atlanta that helps women like her get off the streets. The best part is Honey's new life is being bankrolled by money stolen from her ex-pimp, Valentino James.

But no matter how fast Honey runs, she never seems to break free from her demons. Valentino knows Honey has his money—fifty million dollars to be exact—and he's willing to kill her to get it back. Honey escapes from Valentino by the skin of her teeth, but she knows the time has come to disappear for a while and figure out where her life is headed. In her heart, Honey still aches for Grant Hill, the love she lost when he learned about her dark past. How much more must she lose before she finally finds some peace?

Like a cat, Honey Thomas seems to have nine lives, and she's used up just about every last one of them. But life still has a few surprises left for Honey—and if she's willing to risk everything, she may just get that happy ending her heart and soul desire...

Praise For Mary B. Guns a-blazing, Honey manages to escape from her former pimp, Valentino James, and his dim sidekick, Benito (Honey's former flame), only to hitch a ride with a serial rapist and murderer. After learning of Honey's misadventures, her outrageous bisexual pal, tough Vegas cop Tiffany Davis (“I loved arresting men more than having sex with them”) rides to the rescue. Honey's girls, former escorts she's taken under her wing, also pitch in, but soon ex-stripper Red Velvet takes Honey's place as hostage. Morrison milks the overheated plot for all it's worth, dishing up one problem after another before readers can even catch their breath; unfortunately, the cascade of cliffhangers, while entertaining, makes the neatly wrapped happy ending all the more abrupt and unbelievable. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. Morrison

I finished this book today.
I've tried harder to get through books like I'm used to but time goes by and I just don't find the time anymore.

Anyhow....I did my best to make it through this one. I read the first book when it came out and it was a good read. Like I've said, this is a very "adult" book. So if you're turned off by such things (use your vivid imagination!!), then these books are not for you. But with the adult content is a pretty good story. I wanted to read not just to get through it but to find out what was going to happen next.

I looked online today and saw that the third book in this series is already out (where have I been hiding...geez). Target doesn't have it (didn't think they would), Barnes and Noble didn't have it and neither did Half Price Books. On my mission to find it I called the library and they are getting a copy of it to me by this Friday!

When I'm reading a book in a series and another one is available, I like to get them read so I have the other book fresh in my mind!!

So if you don't mind reading books that are a little on the "adult" side, then this book is a great read. I'll update you when I get the next book by Mary B. Morrison "Unconditionally Single".

Until then..

Happy Reading.

Patricia

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://readmybookblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/finished-whos-loving-you-by-mary-b.html' title='Finished "Who's Loving You" by Mary B. I did my rounds finding new books by some of my favorite authors.
I've read all of Mary B. Morrison books. This is the second book in the Honey series (first book is Sweeter Than Honey).

Here's a little sample of the book:

With her sudden windfall, Honey Thomas has enough money to make a fresh start. Leaving her old life behind in Vegas, Honey sets out for Atlanta, where she opens a counseling center to help victimized women.

But just when she thinks she's finally getting a break, Honey's past comes back to haunt her......

Mary B. Morrison's books may not be for everyone. They are very.....let's just say adult...so if those types of books offend you...I wouldn't recommend it!!

I've really enjoyed her books. They are easy reads. Quick to get through..

If you decide to pick this one up....happy reading.

Patricia

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://readmybookblog.blogspot.com/2010/01/whos-loving-you-by-mary-b-morrison.html' title='Who's Loving You by Mary B. Years later their fantasies become reality when they start their own wedding planning company to make every woman's dream day come true. With perfect flowers, delicious desserts, and joyful moments captured on film, Nora Roberts's Bride Quartet shares each woman's emotionally magical journey to romance.

In Bed of Roses, florist Emma Grant is finding career success with her friends at Vows wedding planning company, and her love life appears to be thriving. Though men swarm around her, she still hasn't found Mr. Right. And the last place she's looking is right under her nose.

But that's just where Jack Cooke is. He's so close to the women of Vows that he's practically family, but the architect has begun to admit to himself that his feelings for Emma have developed into much more than friendship. When Emma returns his passion-kiss for blistering kiss-they must trust in their history...and in their hearts.

Happy Reading.
Patricia

"Kindred In Death"

I finished reading J.D. Robb's "Kindred In Death" last week.
Typically it only takes me a few days to read these books, but reading has been harder for me lately. Usually I'll read before bed, but I've been under the weather for so long that I haven't felt much like reading.
However, I did get this one done. It was a good book, just as the others in this series are.
I love a book that can bring me to laugh, keep me guessing and have the tears falling all rolled together.
This is J.D. Robb's 29th book. If you're into futuristic, murder, mystery books with humor added along side the romance, then these books are for you. Not to mention a female officer in NYC that can kick some royal booty!

Here is a synopsis of the book:

When the newly promoted captain of the NYPSD and his wife return a day early from their vacation, they were looking forward to spending time with their bright and vivacious sixteen-year-old daughter who had stayed behind.

Not even their worst nightmares could have prepared them for the crime scene that awaited them instead. Brutally murdered in her bedroom, Deena's body showed signs of trauma that horrified even the toughest of cops; including our own Lieutenant Eve Dallas, who was specifically requested by the captain to investigate.

When the evidence starts to pile up, Dallas and her team think they are about to arrest their perpetrator; little do they know yet that someone has gone to great lengths to tease and taunt them by using a variety of identities. Overconfidence can lead to careless mistakes. But for Dallas, one mistake might be all she needs to bring justice.

I have many friends that have read these series. It took me a while to even agree to read them because I'm not a fan of books or movies that are "scary". I like to be entertained, laugh, cry...the girly movies/books. But after one of my friends told me to just try it, I finally agreed. And now I'm hooked. I can't wait for the next book to come out (usually there are two that come out in a year). Awesome books. Can't say much more.
If you have never read any of them, start. If you've started and need to get back..this won't disappoint.

Here is a list of the J.D. Robb books in case you're interested and need to know where to start.

Chronological list of J. D. Robb books
(Please note that titles in “ ” are novellas and are about 98 pages in length. The titles of the books in which they are published follow the novella names.)

Naked In Death
Introducing New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas …
Breaking every rule, Lt. If you have something you'd like to see added, certainly do so.

1. A Simple Christmas

"The first Christmas was a simple one. So simple that it had all the makings of a first-class disaster. It's a miracle it turned out well at all. In fact, that's the whole point. It really was, and remains, a miracle--the greatest miracle of all time. And it really was simple."
-Mike Huckabee

Christmas has become synonymous with shopping, overindulging, competition, and stress. But according to Mike Huckabee (who was a pastor before getting into politics), that was never God's intention. Going back to the Nativity, Christmas is supposed to be about simple things: faith, love, family, and hope. The hard part, in today's crazy world, is remembering that those simple things are the most precious of all.

Now Huckabee recounts twelve Christmas memories--often funny, sometimes deeply moving--that range from his childhood in Arkansas to his years as a young husband and father to his time as a governor and then a presidential candidate. These true stories will help you smile, take a deep breath, and maybe slow down your own holiday treadmill.

2. Wishin' and Hopin'

It's 1964 and ten-year-old Felix is sure of a few things: the birds and the bees are puzzling, television is magical, and this is one Christmas he'll never forget.

LBJ and Lady Bird are in the White House, Meet the Beatles is on everyone's turntable, and Felix Funicello (distant cousin of the iconic Annette!) is doing his best to navigate fifth grade—easier said than done when scary movies still give you nightmares and you bear a striking resemblance to a certain adorable cartoon boy.

Back in his beloved fictional town of Three Rivers, Connecticut, with a new cast of endearing characters, Wally Lamb takes his readers straight into the halls of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parochial School—where Mother Filomina's word is law and goody-two-shoes Rosalie Twerski is sure to be minding everyone's business. But grammar and arithmetic move to the back burner this holiday season with the sudden arrivals of substitute teacher Madame Frechette, straight from Québec, and feisty Russian student Zhenya Kabakova. While Felix learns the meaning of French kissing, cultural misunderstanding, and tableaux vivants, Wishin' and Hopin' barrels toward one outrageous Christmas.

3. The Christmas Sweater

If You Could Change Your Life by Reversing Your Biggest Regrets, Sorrows and Mistakes...Would You?

#1 New York Times bestselling author and renowned radio and television host Glenn Beck delivers an instant holiday classic about boyhood memories, wrenching life lessons, and the true meaning of the gifts we give to one another in love.

We weren't wealthy, we weren't poor — we just were. We never wanted for anything, except maybe more time together....

When Eddie was twelve years old, all he wanted for Christmas was a bike. Although his life had gotten harder — and money tighter — since his father died and the family bakery closed...Eddie dreamed that somehow his mother would find a way to have his dream bike gleaming beside their modest Christmas tree that magical morning.

What he got from her instead was a sweater. "A stupid, handmade, ugly sweater" that young Eddie left in a crumpled ball in the corner of his room.

Scarred deeply by the realization that kids don't always get what they want, and too young to understand that he already owned life's most valuable treasures, that Christmas morning was the beginning of Eddie's dark and painful journey on the road to manhood. It will take wrestling with himself, his faith, and his family — and the guidance of a mysterious neighbor named Russell — to help Eddie find his path through the storm clouds of life and finally see the real significance of that simple gift his mother had crafted by hand with love in her heart.

Based on a deeply personal true story, The Christmas Sweater is a warm and poignant tale of family, faith and forgiveness that offers us aglimpse of our own lives — while also making us question if we really know what's most important in them.

4. A Dog Named Christmas

“Todd, they always want you to adopt a dog. That’s what they do. Besides, we don’t need another animal around here, and most definitely not a dog.”

When Todd McCray, a developmentally challenged young man still living on his parents’ Kansas farm, hears that a local animal shelter is seeking temporary homes for its dogs during the days leading to Christmas, he knows exactly what he wants for the holidays. His father objects, but Todd’s persistence quickly wins out. Soon the McCrays are the short-term foster family for a lovable pooch the young man names Christmas.

But what about all the other dogs who will be forced to spend the Yuletide season in cages? In the days that follow, Todd uses his special gifts of persuasion to encourage his hometown to participate in the “Adopt a Dog for Christmas Program.” What follows from his small act of kindness will teach his family, and his community, about peace on earth and good will toward men—and animals.

The Beach House by Jane Green

A friend of mine loaned me The Beach House by Jane Green.
I've read almost all of her books and I really enjoy them.

However, this one has taken me well over two months to finish. I've started other books while reading this one as well. And it's not that it's not a "good" book, I'm just not getting into it.

Here's a description of the book.

Nan Powell is a free-spirited, sixty-five-year-old widow who's not above the skinny-dipping in her neighbors' pools when they're away and who dearly loves her Nantucket home. But when she discovers the money she thought would last forever is dwindling, she realizes she must make a drastic changes to save her beloved house. So Nan takes out an ad: Rooms to rent for the summer in a beautiful old Nantucket home with water views and direct access to the beach.

Slowly people start moving into the house, filling it with noise, laughter, and with tears. As the house comes alive again, Nan finds her family and friends expanding. Her son comes home for the summer, and then an unexpected visitor turns all their lives upside down. Jane Green once again proves herself one of the preeminent writers of the contemporary women's fiction.

Have any of you read this book? Did you have any troubles getting through it? Did you love it or hate it, or are you in between?

Why can't I finish this book!!!

Happy Reading.

ReadMyBookBlog

Patricia

Ready Set Read

Who loves a good book? I remember being very picky with what books/authors I would read. There were just a select few authors and that included Jackie Collins, Danielle Steel, and VC Andrews. I would read one book and wait for a new one to come out.

After growing a bit in life, I realized that I could open up my world of books and not be so closed in what I chose to read.

A few years back I a friend at work loaned me her JD Robb books (she owns them all!) and I read those for a year straight until I got caught up. I'm not one for murder mysteries or futuristic books, but once I started them, I was hooked. I can pick these books up and finish within a few days.

I'm now on the 29th book, Kindred in Death and it's just as good as all of the others. I watched the show and learned that there was a book that the movie originated from.
So I HAD to go out and get the book so that I could read it before the movie came out.

I haven't gotten to the book yet, but the movie doesn't come out here in MN until November 20th. So I still have some time.

The movie looks great so I'm assuming the book will be just as good.

Here's a short description:

Precious Jones, an illiterate sixteen year old, has up until now been invisible to the father who rapes her and he mother who batters her and to the authorities who dismiss her as just one more of Harlem's casualties. But when Precious, pregnant with a second child by her father, meets a determined and highly radical teacher, we follow her on a journey of education and enlightenment as Precious learns not only how to write about her life, but how to make it her own for the first time.

Let me know if you've read or plan on seeing the movie.

I'm really looking forward to this one.

Happy Reading.

ReadMyBookBlog

Patricia

Vision in White

As most people know, Nora Roberts also writes under the pen name of JD Robb. I've posted JD Robb's latest book on the site, but I've never really gotten into reading Nora Robert's books.
I read Blue Smoke and LOVED it. So I bought Vision in White (the Bride Quartet). This is the 1st in the series and I loved this book as well.

The 2nd book in the series, Bed of Roses, came out last month but I haven't gotten to that one yet.

Anyone a Nora Robert's addict? Do you love them or hate them?

What's your take on this book if you've read it.

Leave your opinion.

My sister got this book and didn't care for it much. She thought it was a little slow and some parts seemed to drag on forever. Goes to show we all have different tastes in books.

Happy Reading.

ReadMyBookBlog

Patricia

Kindle or the nook

                                VS

Have you all heard of the Kindle? It's been on Amazon now for a pretty long time.

Just recently out now is the eBook reader, the nook.

Ave any of you done any research on either of these?

Do any of you want one of these?

Oh that would be me!!!

Both of the devices are priced the same at $259.00 (ouch). But you can purchase books at a lower price than if you purchased at the store. You can save these books on the device, you can share your books, etc.

You can read more at Barnes and Noble for the nook and on Amazon for the Kindle.

I'd like to hear your thoughts!

Kindle or nook.. Or even more...neither.

I do love to read. I do love new technology. Not sure if I can justify the price for this little piece of new technology, but it would be fun.

Then again, I do enjoy holding the book, turning the pages, etc.

What's your thoughts?

Happy Reading.

ReadMyBookBlog

Patricia
